Fibromyalgia is a disorder related to muscle pain, fatigue, stiffness, etc. This condition is chronic and gets complicated due to mood and anxiety. Pain often comes and goes in the body due to this condition. Most doctors often mistreat Fibromyalgia. The exact cause for this condition is still unknown, but the theories say that Psychological and Biological factors cause it. Fibromyalgia affects 3-5% of women between 20 to 50 years of age, and only 0.5 to 1.6% of men are affected by this condition. Many suggest that the rates are much higher than this because most of the time, Fibromyalgia goes unrecognized. Hence in many cases even if one suffers from the same he is still unaware of the same and tries to find a solution in different ways.
A Recent Study Shows That “Pycnogenol” Relives The Symptoms Of Fibromyalgia
The research was done recently, which lasted over four weeks and was conducted on 50 women in which 47 were most likely affected by Fibromyalgia. The subjects were then separated into two groups. The first group followed the daily routine work and aerobic exercises, meditation, and local heat applications. Group 2 was given a supplement of Pycnogenol (150mg) and also group 1’s activities. The research showed that the subjects of group 2 were able to reduce the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. They also said that the pain was in control and much better than earlier.
The study was conducted mainly on women because women are the most affected by this condition, and there are about 85 to 90% of women in 10 million cases around the world. This explains the reason for conducting the test on 50 female subjects. The supplement used in the trial was Pycnogenol which is considered as a natural supplement. It is extracted from mono-species pine trees’ bark grown at Les Landes de Gascogne forest in France. The forest is chemical-free and has minimal human interaction. This Research can be beneficial for people affected by Fibromyalgia and can reduce the use of pain killers and other artificial supplements.
Dr. Gianni Belcaro, the lead in the Research said that “Giving Pycnogenol supplements appear to control and reduce the severity of common symptoms —especially pain-related—associated with FM. Pycnogenol could be a safe and natural supplement and prevention method to manage the symptoms of majority of these patients, even in the long run, reducing the need for pain killers or any other kinds of drugs”.
The Research showed:
> 54% decline in the no. of subjects affected with stiffness pain
> 58% decline in the no. of subjects with pain that gets worse with fatigue
> 54% decline in the no. of subjects affected with fatigue
> 71% decline in the no. of subjects affected with IBS
> 35% decline in the no. of subjects with high-stress levels
So, we can say that Pycnogenol can effectively reduce fibromyalgia symptoms and can be a boon for many patients. Other than Fibromyalgia, Pycnogenol also reduces the symptoms of many other health conditions like Asthma, Diabetic leg ulcers, severe cold, etc.
