They are one of the main macronutrient groups in the human diet, along with carbohydrates and proteins. These include food products like butter, salt, milk, pork, and many other foods that we can obtain from plants and animals.
Deposition Of Fat Around The Heart Can Lead To Heart Failure
Different types of fats can be harmful and helpful to human health; they are saturated and unsaturated fats. Where saturated fat has a predominance of saturated fatty acids, without any double bonds, while unsaturated fats have predominantly unsaturated fatty acids.
It is widely believed that saturated fats affect human health when consumed in larger quantities. It can cause diseases such as heart disease risk – where one consumed too many saturated fats can cause cholesterol which leads to a rise in LDL and turn too much LDL can lead to heart disease and stroke. It also causes weight gain, which again leads to heart disease and then causing a stroke. The doctors have also mentioned the daily usage of saturated fats in the United States of America, which is not more than 25% to 30% of daily calories. The saturated fats should be limited to less than 10% of the daily calories.
As per the research conducted in the United States of America, especially women who has too much fat around the heart can increase the risk of heart failure. The research conducted included more than 7,000 women who were aged between 45 to 84 years of age across the United States of America who had no evidence of heart disease on the initial CT scan, the research followed up over 17 years and found that more than 400 women developed heart failure.
As per the reports published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, a high amount of fat around the heart, pericardial fat doubled the women’s risk of heart failure and increased the risk of men’s heart failure by 50% on May 24. The reports also mentioned that for nearly two decades, we know that obesity, based on the simple measurement of height and weight, can lead to heart diseases but now, after digging deeper and using advanced technologies like imaging technology, we know that excess of pericardial fat, perhaps due to its location so close to the heart muscle can put you to the higher risk of heart disease like heart failure said the lead researcher Dr. Satish Kenchaiah, an associate professor of, medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.
A team of researchers considered the factors that are now causing heart failures, such as age, tobacco, alcohol use, inactivity, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, and heart attack. The deposition of the fat around the heart muscles can cause heart failure. Even if the person can be thin, obesity or overweight, it does not matter the size; the only thing that matters is the deposition of fat around the heart muscles.
The research also found that the link between pericardial fat and heart failure was similar no matter the age, racial and ethnic group. Kenchaiah also mentioned that these findings are a more important tool for how much a person is at risk that is higher or lower and can prevent and treat heart disease. They also mentioned that additional studies are required to confirm the studies, and further research focuses on ways and means to prevent and cure the disease and device a healthy diet and to stay physically fit to achieve and maintain optimal body weight and be free from heart diseases like heart failures.
