The New Variants Are Much More Infectious Leading To Surge In The Cases

Around thousands of the Covid-19 cases of this B.1.1.7 strain are reported across the U.S., and the experts are fearing that this variant might drive another surge in the Covid-19 cases as the states are racing ahead and for getting vaccinated. The strain which was first spotted in the U.K., is not only more contagious as compared to the original Covid-19 but also appears to be much more deadlier as well. The B.1.1.7 has already wreaked havoc in many parts of Europe, and the health experts of the U.S. might be the next if Americans are not taking any precautions.

In the Upper Midwest part of the U.S., the experts are finding lots of youngsters very sick and visiting the hospital related to Covid-19 disease due to the B.1.1.7 variant as said by the Dr. Peter Hotez, who is the dean of National School of Tropical Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine. What everyone must remember is that this B.1.1.7 variant is quite different from the past types of these Covid-19 infections which the country has seen is to be much more serious and more severe disease in the younger individuals.

Where the B.1.1.7 is thriving the most?

The U.S. CDC or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported greater than 11,500 cases of the B.1.1.7 variant. But these are only the ones which were caught by the genomic sequencing. This actual number might be very high, as not every Covid-19 positive is not tested.

There are higher counts of the B.1.1.7 case in the Florida, which has welcomed a pack of crowds who are generally spring breakers — most of them are not vaccinated and generally maskless too. Michigan has the second highest number of the B.1.1.7 variants. The officials have said that another surge is on the way.

The state that has got a higher proportion of the variants, means that coronavirus spreads alot faster as said by  Gretchen Whitmer, who is theMichigan Governor. The variants are quite contagious, and that we are seeing whether it is found at some youth sport events or be it the re-engagement of some other restaurants. Whitmer has said that these disturbing trends are fueled by these variants, more travel and pandemic fatigue.

It was seen that March has been the busiest month for travel through air when the pandemic started. Around 38 million of the people had been screened at the U.S. airports in the last month as per the Transportation Security Administration. Officials of the New Jersey also cited due to the B.1.1.7 variants the number of cases are increasing and hospitalizations too. These numbers might go even higher in the summer as officials said.

This is believed that this uptick in the Covid-19 cases is majorly due to more contagious variants, like the B.1.1.7, which is the UK variant, that is also coupled with less cautious health behaviors as said by Judy Persichilli who is state health commissioner on Wednesday.

The new hospitalizations due to the cases have increased by 28% in the last two weeks, as Persichilli said.

More young people are hospitalized in recent weeks.

In March, New Jersey suffered from a 31% jump in the Covid-19 hospitalizations among adults aged between 20 and 29, the health commissioner of the state has said. There was an increase in hospitalisation in between the 40 and 49 age group as there was a  48% increase.
